I started my career as an insurance adjuster, working as an independent adjuster investigating property damage and preparing estimates for insurance companies. I took pride in documenting what I saw and writing estimates that reflected what was necessary to repair the property.

Early in my career, I experienced a water claim where my estimate was approximately $97,000. I was instructed to remove items from my original scope, and the estimate was eventually reduced to an amount below the homeowner's deductible. That was the first time I realized there was a systemic issue that could directly affect homeowners and policyholders.

I didn't want to be a part of that. Integrity and honesty have always been important to me, and I wanted to be able to stand behind my findings.

In 2017, I established a mitigation company, handling water and fire losses across Texas. I studied different types of water and fire damages, how hidden damages can be overlooked, and how to document the things you can't see with the naked eye. It was a valuable and rewarding experience, but I found that contractors were often handcuffed when it came to negotiating claims.

In 2022, I started my public adjusting firm, Claim Genius, and began standing on the frontline of some of the most complex and difficult claims. I developed a deep understanding of policy language and how words have meaning. You cannot apply a blanket denial to every claim, like wear and tear or long term damage. Every claim deserves to be evaluated on its own facts and applicable policy provisions.
